OUR MISSION
The Durango Cowboy Gathering, Inc. is a non-profit organization working to preserve and perpetuate the traditions of working ranch people in the American West. We celebrate the lifeways of rural people by creating the "campfire" around which anyone with an interest can come to share in the appreciation of the culture and traditions unique to the West. Monies received support our annual Gathering and youth programs.
Planning for the 33rd annual Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering is well underway. After the 2020 cancellation due to Covid 19, this singular western event will be back stronger than ever. The board of directors is optimistic that, by October 2021, we will be able to offer safe venues along with outstanding entertainment. Consider spending September 30th to October 3rd in Durango with some of the best western poets and musicians. Watch the motorless parade, take a trail or a train ride, and eat traditional chuckwagon fare. The 2021 poster by artist John Kosel is already available for purchase. We look forward to seeing our friends at the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering!
